Communicating Science Conference for Graduate Students (ComSciCon)

August 25, 2018 - August 26, 2018

Do you want to learn to communicate your science more effectively? Are you interested in learning how to write about science, develop exciting graphics about your work, or engage diverse audiences?

Consider attending the first annual Communicating Science Conference for Graduate Students (ComSciCon) in the Michigan region! The ComSciCon workshop series is designed to empower graduate students to communicate the complex and technical concepts that arise in research in science, engineering and other technical fields to broad and diverse audiences, beyond fellow practitioners in the field.

Attendees will network with fellow graduate student leaders in science communication, produce original writing for publication, and learn from expert writers and communicators including a keynote lecture by Dr. Raychelle Burks (aka @DrRubidium). We are also excited to advertise a “Communication Fundamentals” workshop session, hosted by the University of Michigan-based, nationally renowned #scicomm organization RELATE!

Applications are open NOW and the application period will close at 11:59pm EDT on June 15th, 2018. There will be no registration fee (only a refundable deposit) for graduate student attendees, but only a limited number of spots are available. We will also have some travel funds available for attendees coming from outside Ann Arbor and the surrounding areas. Attendees will be selected through a competitive application process.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email us (michigan@comscicon.org) or find us on Twitter (@ComSciConMI)! Additional information can also be found on our website.
