FAQ

Where should I send final transcripts?

All final transcripts with degrees posted need to be sent to Rackham at 915 E. Washington Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-0170.  Full instructions, including online options, are available here.

How do I use my U-M email?

Once you officially matriculate with Rackham Graduate School, they will send you an email (to your personal account on file with your application) with instructions and an OTID (one-time identification number). Once you’re set up, we’ll have your umich email on file and start using it instead of your personal account. ITS offers additional email support documentation.

Can I get a discount on purchasing a computer?

The U-M Computer Showcase offers university-wide discounts on select hardware, software and accessories. Also, many retailers offer general student discounts if you make a purchase directly through them.

Can I get football tickets?

Yes, many grad students buy tickets, and we highly recommend checking out the wonders of Michigan Football. You can purchase tickets online through MGoBlue. Season tickets should be available to purchase during the first two weeks of June. Single tickets go on sale towards the end of June.  Even if you don’t buy tickets, you can participate in the fun. Look for announcements about tailgates with our current students.

Do I need to enroll in the U-M payment plan?
You may have received an email from the University inviting you to enroll in a payment plan. You can ignore this email. As a PIBS student, your tuition will be covered without you making any payments.
Can I use a U-M computer or printer?

There are computing sites all over campus. Take a look at the ITS Get Connected Guide. Some of the most used resources are Find a Sites Location (find the right location, software, and printing options), Virtual Site (access U-M software from your own computer) and MPrint (print to a network printer from your own computer).

If I've already found a lab I want to stay in, can I commit early?
Nope. All PIBS students must rotate through at least the end of the winter term. Don’t plan to commit before then, and don’t plan to repeat rotations with the same lab mentor. Try something new! Rotations don’t just help you find a permanent home – they can help you acquire new techniques and build collaborations too.
